Woman stabbed to death by 2 sons over property dispute in Nalanda
Biharsharif: A 55-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her two elder sons over a property dispute at Narsanda Bazaar under Chandi police station area in Nalanda district on Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Jilvi Devi, wife of late Ramchandra Prasad and a resident of Badaura village, was sleeping with her five-year-old grandson when the accused allegedly entered the room, stabbed her and slit her throat before fleeing.
Her youngest son, Ravi Raj Kumar Singh, alleged that his elder brothers, Chandrabhushan and Ravishankar, had been pressuring the mother to transfer property in their names and had threatened to kill her.
According to family members, the victim used to live with her youngest son in the village, while the accused brothers, both drivers, live in Patna. They had arrived in the village on Wednesday and allegedly fled soon after committing the crime.
The family alleged that they had approached police several times seeking protection for the woman and had riased concern that her sons could kill her over the property dispute. They claimed no action was taken by the police despite repeated complaints.
Following the incident, angry villagers and relatives staged a road blockade, which was lifted after intervention by Chandi SHO Akhilesh Kumar Jha. Police later sent the body for postmortem and launched an investigation. No arrests had been made so far, the SHO added.
A man was also allegedly shot dead by his son over a similar dispute at Toofanganj village under Bhaganbigha police outpost (OP) area in the district on Wednesday.
