World’s tallest statue of Sita to come up at Sitamarhi: JD(U) MP

Patna: Preparations are being made for the installation of a 251 feet statue and a temple of Mata Sita in Sitamarhi district. Goddess Sita, as per Hindu scriptures, is believed to have been found in an earthen pot as an infant in present day Sitamarhi district while King Janaka of Videha was ploughing farmlands as part of a yagna. Sita was brought up by King Janaka and Sitamarhi derives its name from Mata Sita. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Sitamarhi MP Sunil Kumar Pintu said the world’s tallest statue of Mata Sita would be installed at Raghopur Bakhri village under Dumra block of Sitamarhi district. Pintu, who is also the president of the Shri Baghwati Sita Tirtha Kshetra Samiti, further said that more than 30 acres of land has been arranged at Raghopur Bakhari village for construction of the tallest statue and temple of Mata Sita. “The process to get the land has already been started and a total of 12.43 acres of land has already been registered for construction of the temple,” Pintu said. “I called on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and requested him to waive the registration fee for the temple land. The CM assured me of all possible assistance in this matter,” the JD(U) MP said, adding the issue would be sorted out soon.Pintu, who was in the BJP before the joining the JD(U) during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, also informed that senior saffron party leader and member of the Ayodhya-based Ramjanmbhoomi Thirth Kshetra Nyas, Kameshwar Chaupal, has been nominated as international president of the Shri Baghwati Sita Tirtha Kshetra Samiti, which has been constituted with the purpose of installing the tallest statue of Mata Sita. Speaking on the occasion, Chaupal said he would take necessary steps to create awareness among the public for the construction of the temple of Mata Sita in Sitamarhi, as he did for the construction of Lord Rama’s temple in Ayodhya.
