PATNA: Workers of Yuva JD(U), led by its state president Nitish Patel, organized a 'Sadbuddhi Havan' before a Durga Mandir in the Punaichak area of the state capital, praying for the restoration of 'common sense' in the mind of BJP state president Samrat Choudhary.
Choudhary had recently claimed that the country gained independence in 1977 after the Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan’s total revolution and not in 1947.
After performing the 'Sadbuddhi Havan', Patel stated that the program was organized to beseech Goddess Durga to restore 'Sadbudhi' (common sense) in the mind of the BJP state president so that he refrains from issuing such baseless statements in the future.
Patel also emphasized that the BJP state chief, through his controversial statement, had insulted all those martyrs who laid down their lives to secure independence in 1947.
He questioned the saffron party leaders, "If the country indeed gained independence in 1977 as claimed by Choudhary, and not on August 15, 1947, then why do BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hoist the national flag on August 15 every year?"
Prominent Yuva JD(U) leaders who participated in the 'Havan' program were Hamnshu Pandey, Prashant Raj, Ruchi Shrivastava, Vivek Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar, and Ravi Kumar.
"The country gained independence in 1947, but I don't believe in it as the Britishers left the country and handed over control to new Britishers. True independence was achieved in 1977 when a new government was formed after the 'Sampoorna Kranti' (total revolution) initiated by Jayaprakash Narayan," Chaudhary stated while addressing a gathering during the birth anniversary of Goswami Tulsidas a few days prior.
