AIADMK demands judicial probe into the death of youth undergoing weight-loss surgery
PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry AIADMK unit has proposed to take legal action to exert pressure on the territorial govt to order a judicial probe headed by a retired high court judge into the death of a 26-year-old local youth while undergoing weight loss surgery in a private hospital in Chennai.
In a statement on Monday, Puducherry state AIADMK deputy secretary Vaiyapuri Manikandan said the judicial inquiry committee should include doctors as members.
He said the family of the deceased youth must get justice and the medical and paramedical staff members of the private hospital must get appropriate punishment if found guilty.
Manikandan regretted that the All India NR Congress (AINRC)-BJP coalition government failed to handle the sensational kidnap, rape, and murder of a nine-year-old girl in Muthialpet in the town limits and the tragic death of the youth, also from Muthialpet, while undergoing weight-loss surgery at a Chennai hospital, efficiently and effectively.
He said AINRC founder and chief minister N Rangasamy visited the Muthialpet constituency to seek votes for BJP candidate A Namassivayam several times but failed to issue a statement condemning the kidnap, rape, and murder of the girl or the tragic death of the youth.
He said DMK and its ally were silent on the tragic death of the youth as the party was in power in the neighbouring state where the youth died.
