In a statement, Rajangam said Singh should not be permitted to participate in a function in which the President will be participating as the chief guest in Puducherry.

He demanded a thorough probe into large-scale recruitment of teaching and non-teaching faculty members and the award of construction contracts since 2017 and initiate legal action against Singh if there are any irregularities.

SFI's Pondicherry University unit staged a protest in front of the university gate on Thursday demanding the immediate resignation of Singh.
