Presently, the mills are not functioning, leaving hundreds of mill workers jobless, he said.

He made the demand under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha. The MP said Puducherry has three state-owned textile mills -- Anglo French Textiles, Bharathi Mill and Swadeshi Mill -- in 100 acres in the urban area.

These three mills exist on the Puducherry-Cuddalore main road in proximity with a total land of more than 100 acres.
