Power tariff hike: INDIA bloc to hold bandh in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: The INDIA bloc will hold a dawn-to-dusk bandh in Puducherry after Vinayaka Chaturthi to condemn the AINRC-BJP coalition govt for hiking the power tariff for all types of consumers in the Union territory, said leader of the opposition R Siva (DMK).

Speaking at a protest organised by the INDIA bloc, Siva regretted that the AINRC-BJP coalition govt had failed to learn its lesson from the Lok Sabha defeat.

Former chief minister and senior Congress leader V Narayansamy warned that the INDIA alliance would hold a series of protests if the govt failed to withdraw the hike in power tariff and dropped its proposal to privatise the electricity department.
