Rangasamy's appeal to cadres confirms BJP will contest lone LS seat in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry chief minister and All India NR Congress (AINRC) founder leader N Rangasamy's appeal to cadres to strive hard to ensure victory of the candidate of the alliance party in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls ended all speculations that the Congress splinter group decided to give up the lone Lok Sabha seat in the Union territory to its alliance partner BJP. Rangasamy made this appeal while addressing cadres during the party's founding day celebrations on Wednesday.

“Lok Sabha polls are approaching, and an announcement in this regard will come soon. We must successfully face the polls. It is important that our alliance candidate wins. We must strive hard wholeheartedly with full strength to ensure the victory of our alliance candidate in the polls. It is our duty, and we must be deeply concerned about it. At the same time, we must also strengthen our party. We will form a five-member high-level committee to devise strategies to face the polls. It is easy for us to seek votes from the people as we have fulfilled our promises. We must strive hard to form the next government (in the Union territory),” said Rangasamy while addressing the cadres.

AINRC party lost the previous 2019 Lok Sabha polls to Congress, which is keen to contest to retain the lone seat despite its alliance partner DMK bargaining hard for it. Congress sources said the party will field Vaithilingam again in a bid to retain the prestigious lone seat.
