Temple land scam: Police issue lookout notice against former Karaikal MLA

PUDUCHERRY: The Thirunallar police issued a lookout notice against AIADMK Karaikal district secretary and former MLA M V Omalingam for allegedly grabbing two acres of temple land by forging documents and selling it.

The police booked Omalingam and several others under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the Indian Penal Code.

They were booked based on a complaint that a gang grabbed two acres of land worth Rs 5 crore belonging to a temple trust in Karaikal. The gang forged the documents and sold the property to an unsuspecting buyer.
In the lookout notice, the police said the former MLA went into hiding after he was booked in the temple land scam case. The police requested the public to call 94892 05353, 04423 96406, 04368 236465 or 04368 223100 if they have information about him.
