Thirumurugan sworn in as minister in Pondy cabinet

PUDUCHERRY: All India NR Congress (AINRC) MLA P R N Thirumurugan, 51, elected from Karaikal North constituency, was sworn in as a minister in the Puducherry cabinet on Thursday. The post fell vacant after the lone woman minister in the cabinet S Chandira Priyanga, a Dalit, resigned in October last year levelling gender and caste discrimination charges against the AINRC-BJP coalition govt. Son of late MLA P R Nalamaharajan (Congress), he has been elected to the legislative assembly for three consecutive terms. TNN
