Car driver tries to run over cop near Wadia College
Pune: A car driver on Wednesday tried to run over Amol Shinde, a police constable attached to the Koregaon Park police station, during a nakabandi operation near Wadia College on Bund Garden Road.
The incident occurred in the early hours, in which Shinde suffered head injuries.
"Shinde is out off danger. He has lodged the complaint against the unidentified car driver," said Rajendra Patil, senior inspector of the Koregaon Park police station.
Patil said the cops were checking cars during the nakabandi operation on Bund Garden Road. Around 2.30am, the police team spotted a white-coloured car coming towards Wadia College chowk at high speed. "When Shinde signalled the driver to stop, the driver accelerated the car," Patil said.
Suspecting danger, Shinde jumped to his right to avoid being hit by the car. "The driver dashed the barricades put on the road and sped away. We have booked the car driver under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. We have the registration number of the car. We will soon arrest the driver," Patil said.
