Chakan accident victim succumbs to injuries after 45 days

Pune: Pornima Ambadas Gadhave (29) of Rase village in Khed taluka, who suffered severe injuries after a container truck ran over her at Manik Chowk in Chakan on Jan 16 this year, succumbed to the injuries in a private hospital near Talegaon Dabhade on Tuesday.Gadhave's daughter Dhanashri (11), who was also injured in the accident, died on Jan 24.The truck driver, after hitting Gadhave, hit 12 more vehicles in a bid to escape. Passersby stopped the truck and assaulted the driver. The driver, Akeed Razaq, was arrested by the Chakan police. Senior inspector Pramod Wagh of the Chakan police said three cases have been registered against Razaq. "Razaq has been remanded to judicial custody and is currently lodged in Yerawada jail," Wagh said. TNN
