Maharashtra does better than national average
PUNE/ MUMBAI: With a success rate of 98.2%, the state performed better than the Pune region, of which it is a part, and the national average of 91.5%.
“Our students did extremely well in mathematics. About 12 of them scored a full 100. Three students scored 100 in Sanskrit and social science too,” said Aakanksha Bhangaonkar, vice principal of Indira National School.
“All the students have come out with flying colours. Two of our students got a full 100 marks in maths and eight scored full marks in computers, while 46 got above 90 marks in computers,” said Garima Goel, principal of Air Force School, Chandannagar.
The board had conducted all standard X papers, except for students from north-eastern Delhi. It had changed the exam paper pattern this year and introduced multiple choice questions.
“The approach is to remove rote learning and introduce experiential learning. So students at class X are as experienced as class XII where the same format gave them the edge to excel. Preparing for the professional exam gave them the edge,” a Mumbai school principal said.
MCQs are tricky if one isn’t thorough with the portion,” another school head said.
Another school principal said the post lockdown corrections could have been a reason too. In times of lockdown, teachers corrected the answer papers in isolation and that could have affected evaluation, another principal said.
