UP ATS visits Pune for leads on Junaid’s terror links

visited the city on Saturday and discussed the development in the case related to the recent arrests of

(28), a carpenter from J&K, for their alleged links with the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.The UP ATS (anti-terrorism squad) team was especially keen to know about Junaid. A senior officer of the Pune ATS unit said, “Junaid’s name surfaced in the probe of the UP ATS and they were also looking for him. They took information of the case from the Pune ATS office and discussed some parts of the investigation. We believe they, too, are probing various social media accounts and might have stumbled upon Junaid’s social media page.”Junaid was arrested on May 23 on the charge of links with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

was arrested from Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) on June 1.The Pune ATS officer said, “We have established the identity of two other men, also from J&K, wanted in the case and a search is on for them. One of them has fled to a neighbouring country.”The ATS officer said, “Junaid worked as a recruitment agent for the banned LeT and was looking for new members for the outfit. He would receive money from his handlers for completing the given task. He had received Rs10,000 from a J&K-based bank account.”
