CCTV at ganesh pandal sites; ensure cleanliness: Admin

Raipur: As the Ganesh festival begins in the state capital, Raipur is embracing the celebrations with joy and devotion, but under certain restrictions imposed by the district administration. To ensure smooth and safe festivities, the administration has enforced limitations on loud DJ music, particularly in residential areas, while also mandating CCTV surveillance at pandal sites to maintain public order and adhere to environmental and noise pollution regulations.It was emphasised that the immersion of Ganesh idols should only be done at designated locations, and only biodegradable materials should be used, keeping environmental safety in mind, with a prohibition of plastic bags usage as well.In light of the festival, if DJs are found violating the rules a second time, the DJ equipment will be confiscated. Additional collector Devendra Patel and ASP (City) Lakhan Patle held a meeting with DJ operators and issued strict instructions. They stated that action would be taken if DJ music exceeds 55 decibels in residential areas.Furthermore, DJs should not be installed by modifying vehicles, and playing DJ music in large vehicles will lead to action. The district administration team will inspect DJ sound meters. Patle emphasised that no one should be disturbed by DJ music in residential areas. Failure to follow the rules will result in action under the Noise Pollution Act. District collector Dr Gaurav Singh issued guidelines regarding the immersion of idols and the use of plastic bags, according to the NGT directives. It was also decided that cleanliness campaigns will be carried out during the festival, and any violation will hold the respective puja committees accountable. The meeting was attended by additional superintendent of police O P Sharma, along with other district officials and office bearers.The collector appealed to all to avoid disturbing public peace and advised not to set up pandals by the roadside to prevent traffic disruption.
