CG posts 531 in First innings against Goa in Ranji Trophy

Raipur: Riding on the overwhelming success of top order batting, hosts Chhattisgarh posted a huge 531 for nine before declaring their first innings against Goa, after winning the toss and opting to bat first in the Ranji Trophy match which began on Tuesday.Openers A G Tiwary (86 off 131) and Shashank Chandrakar (101 off 191) laid the foundation for Chhattisgarh which put 531 for nine in 155 overs. Winning the toss, the hosts chose to bat first at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium and the openers responded well when they put up a hundred-run partnership for the first wicket. Coming at number three, Ashutosh Singh contributed a valuable 55 off 140 while captain Harpreet Singh Bhatia fell prey to nervous ninety when he was out bowled out by Lakshay A Garg on 96 from 164 balls. In the tail, wicket-keeper batsman M S S Hussain contributed 40 off 71 while medium fast bowlers Vasudev Bareth and Ravi Kiran remained unbeaten on 48 and 46 respectively.Vijesh Prabhudesai and Lakshay took three wickets each for Goa. In reply, Goa scored 51 for one at stumps on day two. Ishaan Gadekar and Suyash Prabhudessai were batting unbeaten on 28 and 13 respectively. Medium pacer Ravi Kiran claimed the only wicket for Chhattisgarh. TNN
