Chhattisgarh: Ambedkar hospital gets Centre's nod for testing coronavirus samples

hospital, on Friday, received centre's approval to start virology lab for testing coronavirus samples. This has increased the state's capacity by 300 tests/day.


The hospital has been undertaken for treating coronavirus patients and has a capacity of nearly 500 beds.

Earlier, All

India Institute of Medical Sciences

(AIIMS) and

Jagdalpur Medical College

lab were testing samples. AIIMS also launched its online link for providing

reports

of Covid-19 sample results.

As per state health official, the Covid-19 sample testing at Ambedkar hospital would be started from next week. After receiving approval from Union ministry of family welfare and health, the hospital lab is under renovation for making separate arrangements for storing and conducting tests.

In a similar development, AIIMS's IT department has developed new software to collect and communicate test related information online.

All data compiled through software can be used for further research, said AIIMS administration.

Initially, the whole process from sample collection to communicating the final report used to take three-to four days.

Hoverver, now once the test is conducted , reports will be automatically generated and could be communicated to the concerned officials in online form Thereby, increasing the productivity of the hospital.

The online reports at AIIMS website could be accessed using login IDs and passwords.

'It is very much useful as we have almost 3000+ data of coronavirus tests. This software will not only encourage social distancing but can also give insightful information for further research', said AIIMS Deputy Director (Administration)
