Chhattisgarh DPI to open SAGES admission portal for academic year 2024-25 on Wednesday
RAIPUR: As preparations for admissions in the Swami Atmanand Government Excellent Schools (SAGES) are in full swing in Chhattisgarh, the Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) is set to open the portal of SAGES for students’ admissions for the academic calendar 2024-25 on Wednesday. Besides online applications, offline applications will also be accepted from students. The DPI has issued circulars to all the district education officers of the state to this effect.
Online applications will be accepted for admission in the 348 Swami Atmanand Excellent Hindi Medium Schools and 403 Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools across the state. According to the DPI, applications from students will be accepted from April 10 to May 5. In case there are more applications than available seats in the schools, a lucky draw will be conducted from May 5 to May 10, followed by other formalities of admissions being carried out from May 11 to May 15.
As per the rules, a student can apply for only one school at a time. Priorities will be given to those students applying for admission to Class 6 and Class 9, who are already enrolled in the 152 English Medium Primary Schools and 153 Middle Schools.
Children who were orphaned during Covid-19 should be given special attention in the admission process. The death certificate of parents of such students is mandatory. Fifty percent of the total seats in each class should be filled by girl students. In case of vacant seats due to the absence of girls, seats will be filled with boys.
Children belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) and economically weaker sections will have a 25% reservation in the schools. Parents need to obtain an income certificate from the competent authority to enroll their children in the Atmanand Schools under this quota, as stated by the DPI in the letter to the district education officers. A lucky draw will be conducted if more applications than the 25% reserved seats are received.
The age of students for admission to Class One should be between 5.6 years and 6.6 years as of May 31, 2024.
As far as the number of seats is concerned, it is adjustable, and the Collector, who heads the district-level committee in their respective districts, has the authority to make decisions regarding this, said the DPI officer.
