Cutting-edge AI technology in healthcare launched in Raipur, developed jointly by IIT Bhilai and AIIMS Raipur
RAIPUR: The AI-assisted digital healthcare system, jointly developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, was launched on Tuesday. The system aims to enhance emergency care systems, thereby benefiting patients in remote areas and resource-limited settings. A live demonstration was conducted from the AIIMS cardiology ICU.
On this occasion, Professor Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, informed that the technical aspect of the solution was developed by the team at IIT Bhilai, led by Professor Santosh Biswas, while the overall architecture and adaptation to India's medical needs were handled by the team at AIIMS Raipur, led by Dr. D K Tripathi. The result is the launch of the "ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI, heart attack) through AI-integrated Clinical Decision Support System." Professor Rajiv Prakash further mentioned that Ayush-Tech, a collaboration between IIT Bhilai and AIIMS Raipur initiated in June 2023, aims to blend the technical and medical expertise of these two organizations and provide a common platform for students, faculty members, and industries for integrated teaching/training, joint research and development, entrepreneurship, etc., with a vision to improve medical facilities through state-of-the-art engineering technologies. The mission of this joint effort is to optimally utilize the resources, infrastructure, and knowledge of both institutes for the betterment of society.
Dr. Ashok Jindal, Director of AIIMS Raipur, congratulated the team and expressed his pleasure at seeing the first implementation of a solution emerging from this endeavor in less than a year. He further mentioned that this launch marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to integrate technology with medicine for the betterment of society.
