Highly placed sources in govt stated that the authorities were sincerely mulling over introducing a law on illegal religious conversion and the process of drafting the law is already in place.

Judeo said that he’s planning for a foot march from Jashpur to Raipur requesting govt to introduce a law against such practice.

Addressing to reporters, BJP leader Prabal Pratap Singh Judeo stressed upon immediate need for delisting of people who have adopted Christianity or any other religion and continue to avail benefits of reservation exclusively meant for Scheduled Tribe.

“We are planning a massive foot march from Jashpur to Raipur which will focus on two major issues of delisting and introducing a law against religious conversion in Chhattisgarh. We need to unite together against such practices. Foot march will be carried out to urge the govt to escalate the process. Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai has also been in support of this,” Judeo said.

Stating that there was rampant conversion going on in Sakti district where people were adopting Christianity, by brainwashing or luring them into several things, Judeo said that the need was felt to organize the ‘gharwapsi’ abhiyan.

Over 651 families on Sunday were welcomed back at a ceremony under a ritual where in their feet are washed with sacred Gangajal in a huge gathering of people.

“Time has come to unmask those carrying out illegal conversions as it poses grave threat to society,” Judeo said.

Incidents of violence and scuffle are often reported from tribal Bastar region where a serious tiff is going on between tribals and tribal Christians and the latter is forced to follow Hindu rituals during death of a family member as they are prevented from burying the body.
