IIT Bhilai celebrates science day with ‘space ideathon’

Raipur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai hosted a series of exciting events, including a space ideathon, drawing competition, and model-building competition for school students on the occasion of National Science Day.The day commenced with an educational session focusing on the achievements of ISRO and Indian space programmes, such as Chandrayaan 3. Faculty from the Department of Physics—Dr. Mahavir Sharma, Dr. Dhruv P. Singh, Dr. S. Ghosh, and Dr. Sudhanwa Patra—led an interactive session introducing students to space science and astrophysics.Following the educational segment, students engaged in the ideathon and painting competitions, which were followed by a lunch break. Post-lunch, a documentary on ISRO's missions and Chandrayaan 3 was screened, complemented by an interactive quiz session with members of the Space Exploration Society (SES), a student club of IIT Bhilai.IIT Bhilai director, prof. Rajiv Prakash graced the occasion and awarded prizes to the winners of the competitions. He encouraged the students to pursue excellence in scientific and technological fields, particularly space science.Additionally, as part of the Space Day programme, a live telecast of the national event from Delhi was streamed on the IIT Bhilai campus. The success of Chandrayaan 3 stands as a proud achievement for India, and celebrating National Space Day on August 23 underscores the significant strides in Indian science.The event welcomed participants from DPS Durg, JNV Durg, DWPS Raipur, and KPS Raipur.
