: The Chhattisgarh

School Education Department

has bagged the Computer Society of India- Special Interest Group (CSI-SIG) 19th e-Governance Award 2021 for its tele-practices implemented for academic assessment and monitoring.
This award has been given in the 'Recognition Category' for 'Tele-practices' which were implemented for the academic assessment and monitoring of school children.
The award was received jointly by Dr. M Sudhish on the behalf of Chhattisgarh Education Department and

Som Shekhar

, Senior Technical Director and

Lalita Verma

, Senior Scientist on behalf of

NIC

at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj.
'Tele-practice' was developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) and implemented by the Department of School Education to remove the discrepancies in the assessment procedures. In this, teachers and students have to join a group on Telegram. The teacher puts question images in the group, children have to answer them without wasting time and each child's e-answer automatically creates a separate video.
After watching these videos teachers can assess the children's learning and performance. Simultaneously children can improve their performance through these videos, knowing their errors they can improve their answers for the next time.
The 'Tele-practices' program is being implemented by the state's School Education Department in collaboration with NIC Chhattisgarh.
Various organisations have observed the 'Tele-practices' program and found it useful to facilitate the teacher to assess the student's performance.
It has been developed under NIC senior technical director Som Shekhar and its piloting in the state has been done under Dr. M. Sudhish, Assistant Director, Samagra Shiksha.
