The incident occurred early on Monday when Penki Ganesh, a painter by profession, passed away.

His family took the body to the Hindu crematorium on the outskirts of the village, only to find it had been turned into a trash site. Local villagers had been using the cremation ground as a dumping yard, leaving the area filled with garbage.

Undi village has three designated burial and cremation sites: one for the Christian community, one for the Kshatriya community, and another for other Hindu communities. Despite repeated pleas, the panchayat officials did not respond, leaving the family in distress.

Undi sub-inspector Naseerullah explained that the village has two cremation sites – one for Christians and one for Hindus. He also noted that local authorities had denied permission for cremation on Uppugunta Road due to the visit of Andhra Pradesh's education minister and the son of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to the region.

Villagers had also expressed their belief that the crematorium designated for the Kshatriya community was separate and should not be used by others.
