‘AAP leader bought a plot near Dehgam from extortion money’

Rajkot: Investigation into the Rs one crore extortion offense lodged against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) youth wing leader Yuvrajsinh Jadeja has revealed that he had purchased one plot from this money near Dehgam in Gandhinagar district. A team of investigators are camping in Dehgam to verify this revelation and check government records, sources privy to the probe said, adding that Jadeja had struck the land deal after receiving the extortion amount. Also, with the arrest of sixth accused, Alfaaz Khan alias Raju on Friday, all the six people named in the FIR are in police custody now. Raju was roped in by Jadeja's brother-in-law Kanbha Gohil as the former was a casual labourer and not a known face. Police said Raju was present in both the meetings that Jadeja's brother-in-laws and another accused Ghanshyam Ladhva held with the two masterminds of the dummy candidates racket Prakash alias PK Dave and Pradip Baraiya. They had allegedly extorted Rs 45 lakh from PK and Rs 55 lakh from Baraiya after holding separate meetings with them. The money was sought allegedly on Jadeja's behalf for not revealing their names in the racket which he exposed in a press conference held in Gandhinagar on April 5. An FIR in the dummy candidate racket was lodged on April 14 and the number of arrests in the case has gone up to 32 with 52 named in the offense."Raju was Kanbha's friend for long and he was present in meetings held with PK and Baraiya where the deal for money was struck," said an official. Cops are also searching for another middle-man named RK, sources said. Since April 21 when the extortion complaint was lodged, police have recovered a total of Rs 73.50 lakh out of the Rs one crore extorted. On Friday, police recovered Rs there lakh that Shivubha had given to a person known to him.
