Cops disguise as peddlers, addicts to nab MD drug supplier from Mumbai

Rajkot: Members of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Devbhumi Dwarka police disguised as drug peddlers and drug addicts to nab a drug supplier from Mumbai. The arrest in Mumbai came after the team had arrested a drug peddler with a stock of MD drug worth Rs 1.76 lakh on Jamnagar-Khambhaliya highway. Based on specific information, an SOG team had caught Mohsin alias Chottu Satti (36) with a stock of methamphetamine, popularly known as MD, near Data village on Jamnagar-Khambhaliya highway on May 27. During Mohsin’s interrogation, he told police that he had brought the stock from one Jubair Memon at Mahim in Mumbai. Soon a team of nine policemen was sent to Mumbai to nab Memon.“There is an area called Makhdoom Shah Dargah in Mahim which is considered a sensitive area. We changed our appearances and dressed like local Muslims. We also posed as drug peddlers as well as drug addicts to nab Memon,’’ said a senior police officer. Some members of the SOG team came across Memon and talked to him but it was not possible for the team to arrest him there as the area was crowded. “So we lured him to an isolated place at some distance away and from there, we took him to Mahim police station,” the officer said, adding that the entire operation continued for about six hours. Police came to know that Memon used to sell one gram of drug at a price ranging from Rs 4,500 to Rs 10,000 depending on demand and supply. “We came to know that Memon was the supplier to many drug peddlers in Saurashtra. He had supplied drug twice to Mohsin and he had also supplied to another person who is now in Jamnagar jail. We hope to get more leads in this case during Memon’s detailed interrogation,’’ said SOG in-charge inspector P C Singrakhiya.
