Woman jumps in pond leaving her infant behind

PALANPUR

: A 21-year-old woman jumped into village pond near Mehsana on Wednesday leaving her three-month-old girl on edge of the pond. The woman was identified as Arti Rawal of Kherva village, said police, adding that her body was yet to be found.


Aarti had married two years ago, said Kherva village sarpanch Govind Patel. The village is located 10 km away from Mehsana.

“We came to know at about the incident at 12.30pm. Soon the villagers gathered around the pond and swimmers began search for Aarti,” said Patel.
