Bokaro: Two Minor Tribal Girls Allegedly Gang-Raped in Giridih; Search Operation Underway

Bokaro: Two minor tribal girls were allegedly gang-raped by a group of youths in Giridih district during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, police said on Tuesday, adding that they have launched a massive search operation to nab the culprits.

According to police sources, the victims, aged 17 years and 12 years, had gone to visit a local fair along with their friends from their village. Around midnight, the group got separated in the crowd. While the two girls were returning home with a male acquaintance, they were alleged intercepted by a group of six to seven youths in a deserted area.The assailants reportedly thrashed the male companion and chased him away before dragging the two minors to a nearby field where they were subjected to sexual assault. The matter reached the local police outpost on Monday morning, following which SP Bimal Kumar was informed. The SP sent a local police officer to the spot along with a team of women police personnel.


The women police officers recorded their statements, and the youth who was assaulted by the gang was also questioned to identify the attackers. "The police are conducting raids, and investigation is underway. A Special Investigation Team was formed. The FSL team, along with the dog squad, assessed the spot. A few suspects were detained," said the police.
