NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old man was arrested in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district for allegedly killing his wife by slitting her throat with a sickle on Tuesday, suspecting her of having an extramarital affair, police officials said.
The incident occurred in Kotpara area under Nagari police station limits. The couple, who had been married for three months, frequently quarreled over minor issues.
The accused allegedly killed his wife in their house, where she died immediately. Neighbors alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested the man.
The suspect confessed to the police that he committed the murder due to suspicions about his wife's fidelity.
Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation into the matter. The accused remains in custody as the probe continues.
