Drug bust nets 14 arrests: Police apprehend 14 drug peddlers in Hazaribag; Seize brown sugar and other contraband worth Rs 18 lakh

Hazaribag: Police have arrested 14 drug peddlers during a special drive conducted across Katkamdag, Lohsinghna and Ichak police station areas, it said on Tuesday. It also seized close to 129 gms of brown sugar worth Rs 18 lakh, said additional superintendent of police (operations) Amit Kumar. Other seizures included ganja (2 kg), cash, mobile phones and vehicles seized during the operation.

The ASP carried out the operation on the direction of Hazaribag SP Anjani Anjan. Kumar said, “A raid was conducted near Sultana under Katkamdag police station limits, where peddlers attempted to flee on seeing the police team. However, three of them were chased and apprehended. During interrogation, they revealed names of other associates involved in the illegal trade leading to subsequent arrests.”


Out of the 14 arrested, six were held from Katkamdag police station area, three from Lohsinghna and five from Ichak police station limits.

Kumar said that separate cases have been registered under the NDPS Act at the respective police stations and all the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
