Illegal Sand Tractor Kills One, Injures Another on Govindpur-Sahibganj Highway
Dumka: A tractor, which was allegedly ferrying sand illegally, killed one person and injured another near Raidih More (Pabia) on the Govindpur–Sahibganj highway under Narayanpur police station limits in Jamtara district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Rajamani Mandal (50), a resident of Jhilua village, while the injured person, Parmeshwar Singh (in his late 40s) of Raidih, is undergoing treatment at Jamtara Sadar Hospital.
Both were travelling on a bike when a speeding tractor lost control and rammed into their vehicle head on. After hitting the bike, the tractor crashed into a roadside tree but its driver managed to jump off and flee.
Narayanpur police station’s sub-inspector Saket Pratap Dev said, “Probe is underway to identify the owner and driver of the tractor. The vehicle has been seized.”
