Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Urges Youth to Pursue Higher Education with Guruji Student Credit Card Scheme
Ranchi: Interacting with students and beneficiaries of the Guruji Student Credit Card (GSCC) scheme on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of his late father and JMM patriarch Shibu Soren, chief minister Hemant Soren on Sunday appealed to the youths to gain higher and technical knowledge and strive to add Jharkhand to the league of developed states in the country.
Hemant said Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and many like him strived for years to form a separate state despite facing many hurdles.
“Now, it’s our responsibility to make Jharkhand a better and developed state. For that, we all must study and contribute to the state’s growth. Jharkhand’s development is only possible when youths in every village are educated,” he said.
Stating that Jharkhand is lagging behind despite its youth having excellence, the CM informed that the majority of the youths are forced to migrate to other states in search of employment, leaving behind their education.
“Due to the lack of money, our meritorious children could not afford to pursue higher education. But now, our govt will not let economic hurdles get in the way of our youths’ education. The govt has been providing educational loans at a nominal interest rate through the GSCC scheme to make higher education accessible to all. Take advantage of the scheme and contribute towards Jharkhand’s growth,” he added.
The state govt launched the GSCC scheme in 2024 to provide educational loans up to Rs 15 lakh at an interest rate of 4% to students to pursue higher education without any collateral. A total of 2,430 students have taken advantage of the scheme.
The CM handed over beneficiary cards under the scheme to 52 students and launched a GSCC dashboard and AI chatbot for students.
Hemant also inaugurated a district library on the premises of Bokaro’s Ram Rudra CM School of Excellence and a 24x7 Guruji night school to boost reading habits among students.
