Political leaders, activists to mark Stan’s death anniv as ‘Sankalp Diwas’

Ranchi: Political leaders and social activists on Monday decided to observe ‘Sankalp Diwas’ in front of Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to mark the third death anniversary of social activist Stan Swamy.Swamy, who was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case, died during imprisonment on July 5, 2021. The NIA charged him under the UAPA.During the meeting on Tuesday at the CPI-ML party office here, the participants decided to submit a memorandum signed by 50,000 people to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, by the end of this month, to demand a declaration on Swamy that he was innocent and to seek the return of his laptop and other articles seized by NIA along with the withdrawal of UAPA. CPI-ML leader Bhubaneshwar Kewat said, “Since Swamy died in custody, the people responsible for it should be punished. We have resolved to continue our agitation till Swamy gets justice.”Social activist Dayamani Barla, Father Tony, RJD leader Rajesh Yadav, CPI-M member Prafull Linda and CPI district secretary Ajay Singh were among the prominent leaders who attended the meeting.
