Tribal students of Dumka meet Prez in Rashtrapati Bhavan
Dumka: The associate NCC officer and principal in-charge of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Lt Sumita Singh, led a 40-member group of tribal students from different schools of Jharkhand to meet President Draupadi Murmu at the Rastrapati Bhavan on August 22 as part of an educational tour.The group comprised national shooting champion and NCC cadet of Kathijoriya-based Model Eklavya School, Sevanshila Murmu, who was felicitated by Draupadi.Around 500 students enrolled in the EMRS of Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh participated in the event organised under the aegis of the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) that aims to provide the students with a platform to exchange ideas, insights and experiences on matters related to education, career and other matters.“President Draupadi Murmu was very excited to meet us. She also recalled her visit to our school during her tenure as the governor of Jharkhand,” Lt Sumita said.She further said the tour provided the students with a unique opportunity to familiarise themselves with the workings of the Parliament and the Rashtrapati Bhavan.Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, wife Mira, and ministers of state Renuka Singh and Bindeshwar Tudu were present.“It was a historic experience for us to interact with the President at the Rastrapati Bhawan and take photographs with her,” said Sevanshila Murmu of EMRS located at Kathijoriya in Dumka district.
