RANCHI: While Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) termed it as unfortunate, tribal outfits expressed their displeasure after President Droupadi Murmu cancelled her plans to attend the statehood day event organised by the state government on Tuesday.
Elaborate security arrangements were made and even a dry run of the presidential visit was carried out at Morhabadi ground on Sunday.
Chief minister Hemant Soren and a battery of top bureaucrats had visited the ground on Sunday and Monday to take stock of the last minute preparations.
However, as the revised schedule of the president reached the state government, there was disappointment, though no official statement was issued over the change in programme.
“What can we say? The president was invited to attend the statehood day function as the chief guest, but if for some reason she isunable to attend, we have nothing to say,” said finance minister Rameshawar Oraon.
