Petitions committee inspects ongoing works in Dharmapuri

Dharmapuri: The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee, led by chairman Kovi Chezhiyan, conducted an inspection in the district on Wednesday in the presence of district collector K Santhi.The committee inspected work on an additional building at the district collectorate at a cost of Rs 36 crore, construction of a 50-bed intensive care unit at the Govt Dharmapuri Medical College and Hospital and construction of a perimeter wall at the govt school at K Nadualli. They also inspected the agricultural research centre at Papparapatti, agricultural science centre and the new bus stand at Pennagaram.The committee instructed officials to take appropriate action on various petitions, including the ones on the restoration of a few old temples.Kovi Chezhiyan, who is also the Thiruvidaimarudur MLA, said they had received 145 petitions from the public and selected 33 of them for examination. “The petition committee can directly investigate the problems of the public, meet the public directly and solve various problems.”He also issued welfare measures to the tune of Rs72.45 lakh to 12 beneficiaries on the day.The committee members were accompanied by district revenue officer Paul Prinsley Rajkumar and district superintendent of police S S Maheswaran, among others.
