Tamil Nadu shocker: Man attacks wife, 3 children with sickle, 2 kids die

SALEM: A man attacked his wife and three children with a sickle during a family dispute early Wednesday morning near Gangavalli in Salem district, killing two of his children.

The accused, M Ashok Kumar, 40, a daily wage laborer from Krishnapuram village, is married to 38-year-old Thavamani.

The couple has three children: Vidyadharani, 13, Arul Kumari, 10 and Arul Prakash, 5.

Relatives visiting Ashok Kumar’s home discovered Thavamani and the children lying unconscious in a pool of blood and immediately alerted the Gangavalli police.

"Vidyadharani and Arul Prakash succumbed to severe head injuries, while Thavamani and Arul Kumari are in critical condition," said a Gangavalli police official.

The injured were rushed to Attur Government Hospital, where they remain under critical care.

Meanwhile, Gangavalli police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the suspect.
