BSF holds Amrit Kalash Yatra along India-Bangladesh border

Shillong: Honouring the martyrs of freedom struggle, Seema Praharis of BSF Meghalaya organised an Amrit Kalash Yatra in villages along the India-Bangladesh border of the state on Thursday.“The Amrit Kalash Yatra is a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made by the valiant soldiers and citizens who have contributed to India’s independence and security. Launched by the Government of India on September 1 to commemorate the country’s 75th year of Independence, this campaign has captured the essence of patriotism and national pride,” a statement issued by the Meghalaya Frontier Headquarters of the BSF here said on Friday.“During the Yatra, soil was collected from the bordering villages of Lyngkhat, Pyrdiwah, Umsyiem, Dawki, Kongwang in the East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts. A large number of villagers enthusiastically participated in the event, displaying their patriotic fervor,” the BSF informed.The initiative is part of the Centre’s ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign.

Civic body takes out Amrit Kalash Yatra

Chandigarh Municipal Corporation organized the Amrit Kalash Yatra as part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign, marking 75 years of India's Independence. The yatra involved the collection of soil from various societies in the ward, which will be sent to New Delhi for a national program. The campaign will continue in October, covering all 35 municipal wards in the city. Meanwhile, Marathi actress Sonalee Kulkarni celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner and urged fans to adopt sustainable practices. Panchkula Municipal Corporation is preparing to celebrate Swachhata Pakhwada, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party is launching its election campaign in Rajasthan.

Tension along Assam-Meghalaya border

Tension continues along the Assam-Meghalaya border after clashes between Karbi villagers and Pnar tribal people. Videos of the confrontation have gone viral on social media. Police forces from both states are preventing villagers from gathering near the clash site.

Two live mortar shells found in village along international border in Kathua destroyed

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir successfully neutralized two live mortar shells found in a village near the international border. Local residents discovered the shells and promptly alerted the police, who swiftly responded and secured the area. A Bomb Disposal Squad was called in to destroy the shells in a controlled explosion, following standard operating procedures. The prompt action by the security forces averted a potential tragedy.
