Cricketer Rishi Dhawan challaned for using car during lockdown
Manali: Cricketer Rishi Dhawan was on Thursday challaned for using his car without prior permission during a three-hour curfew relaxation in Mandi district of Himachal.
According to the police, despite a ban on the use of vehicles, Dhawan had taken out his private car during the relaxation period between 10am and 1pm.
The cops said he was going to a bank around 12:40pm when they stopped him at a naka. As he failed to produce any vehicle pass, he was fined Rs 500. Dhawan paid the fine on the spot, confirmed Mandi SP Gurdev Chand Sharma.
The cops also explained to Dhawan that the deputy commissioner has imposed a complete ban on the use of the vehicles, even during the relaxation in curfew when people are asked to come on foot for shopping of essential items.
Rishi Dhawan had contributed Rs 1 lakh to HP Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund through Mandi DC on March 30.
Meanwhile, the police in Mandi have registered seven cases in connection with fake news, hate and misleading posts on social media. SP Sharma said the action has been taken on communal posts targeting a particular community and misleading posts on Covid-19.
The police have also advised the landlords, who are asking their tenants from a particular community to vacate, to show solidarity with them in the present tough times and not force them to leave.
