HRTC staff to get pending dues before March 31: CM

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday promised to clear all pending dues of Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) employees before March 31 next year.Sukhu said HRTC has completed 50 years in the service of the people of the hill state and the govt will ensure that it serves them for the next 50 years as well. “We don’t know what the previous BJP govt has done. HRTC employees have been awaiting their night and overtime allowance for the last 55 months,” he added, accusing the BJP of shifting its responsibility to the next govt. He, however, promised that the present Congress govt will clear all their dues. “A total of Rs 9 crore will be disbursed to the HRTC employees. Besides, in view of Diwali, the HRTC employees will also get their salary for the month of Oct on the 28th of this month,” he said. The CM said he would make more employee-friendly announcements on Monday after a few meetings with different govt depts.

Govt extends OPS benefits to 60k employees

The state cabinet has approved extending old pension scheme benefits to 60,245 government employees appointed on fixed pay before April 1, 2005. This decision, costing Rs 200 crore, follows negotiations between ministers and employee unions. Additional demands such as higher travel allowances and increased gratuity amounts have also received in-principle approval.

Former Union minister Anurag Thakur criticized the Himachal Pradesh Congress government for accumulating over Rs 27,000 crore in loans within 18 months. He claimed that despite this debt, there is no budget for development projects, highlighting poor road conditions across the state, including Nadaun, the constituency of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
