Carp farming sees growth of 600 MT

Shimla: Carp fish production in Himachal Pradesh has increased from 6,767 metric tonnes last year to 7,367.03 metric tonnes in 2024, said chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday. Nearly 2,600 fishermen are presently involved in carp fish farming in the hill state and the increase in production is contributing to a steady rise in their income, he added. The chief minister asserted that the state government is providing high-quality fish seeds to fishermen, and there are seven government-run carp fish farms across the state. TNN
