: In a bid to reduce pressure on traditional energy sources, the

Himachal Pradesh

government has started a solar-powered irrigation project to provide water to the farmers of the state.

The

solar irrigation

system is environment-friendly and the cost of installation is less compared to the traditional energy systems.

According to officials, under the Solar

Irrigation Scheme

, necessary infrastructure is being put in place to lift water from solar pumps.
