Panel suggests land allotment to 6.7k affected families

Shimla: A committee constituted to address the relief and rehabilitation of the families displaced due to the Pong Dam project in Kangra has recommended allotment of land to 6,736 affected families and establishment of a grievance redressal cell to address the concerns pertaining to infrastructure and other facilities. The committee submitted its report to revenue minister Jagat Singh Negi on Wednesday. Negi said 75,268 acres of land was acquired in 1966-67 for the project.tnn

The Uttarakhand government has allocated 1.9 crore to relocate 43 families displaced by landslides in Jyotirmath. Forty families from Pagnau and three from Urgam village will receive aid. The District Magistrate is expediting fund distribution and infrastructure development at the relocation sites. Pagnau village suffered extensive damage during monsoon season, forcing residents into temporary shelters.
