2 held with 3.5kg charas in Nurpur

Shimla: Nurpur police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two persons carrying 3.57 kg charas. As per Ashok Ratan, superintendent of police, Nurpur, a police team, based on a tip-off, intercepted a car near Jota at the 24-mile mark in Nurpur and recovered charas from the vehicle. The arrested accused have been identified as Bhupinder Thakur and Jitendra Thakur, both residents of Kullu district. Nurpur police have registered an FIR under Sections 20 (possessing cannabis), 25 (allowing premises for offence) and 29 (criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the accused, said the police. SP said police were investigating the case to check forward and backward linkages. tnn

Police registered case against Congress leaders

Commissionerate Police have registered a case against senior Congress leaders, including Ajoy Kumar and Sarat Pattanayak, for allegedly cheating a city-based youth of Rs 1.42 crore. The complainant, Ashutosh Mohapatra, claims the duo failed to pay the agreed amount after a business deal for election campaign supplies. Investigations are underway, although Pattanayak denies the allegations.

Police team camps in TN to search rape accused

A civil service aspirant in Kazhakkoottam was allegedly raped after being forced to drink alcohol by the accused, Deepu, at her apartment. Following the attack, the accused attempted to settle the case but fled to Tamil Nadu when legal action appeared imminent. Police traced his last location to Nagercoil, but he remains at large.
