Watch: Delhi bomber Dr Umar Nabi’s Pulwama home reduced to rubble
SRINAGAR: The two-story house of Dr Umar Nabi, the bomber who allegedly detonated the car near Red Fort, was completely demolished by security agencies in Jammu-Kashmir's Pulwama, officials said on Friday.
A video shared by news agency PTI shows the house was reduced to piles of debris, twisted metal sheets, and shattered walls.
Officials said the demolition was carried out during the night between Thursday and Friday.
Delhi car blast
The explosion near the Red Fort at 6.52 pm on Monday claimed 13 lives and left several others injured, wreaking havoc on nearby vehicles and scattering debris across the road.
Investigators have recovered diaries and notebooks belonging to Umar Nabi and Dr Muzammil from Al Falah University in Faridabad, which officials believe could provide crucial insights into the planning of the attack. DNA tests have confirmed that Umar was inside the car at the time of the blast.
Forensic teams have collected over 40 samples from the site, including vehicle fragments and human remains. A special team has been formed to analyse these materials and determine the type of explosives used. Police are also tracing Umar’s possible handlers and reconstructing his movements throughout the day to identify any accomplices.
Umar manually pays toll, looks directly at CCTV
New CCTV footage shows Umar entering Delhi on Monday with a large bag on the rear seat, suspected to contain the IED detonated later that evening. A lookout circular has been issued for a suspect, Muzaffar, believed to be in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. He is a doctor and the brother of an arrested accused named Adeel, acting as an intermediary between the module members and the handler.
The probe has also focused on financial transactions. Investigators found that Umar and his associates, Muzammil, Adeel, and Shaheen, collected around Rs 25 lakh in cash, which was used to procure IED components, including 20 quintals of NPK fertiliser purchased from areas such as Gurgaon and Nuh. Authorities are examining Umar's digital footprint, including his mobile number and UPI ID.
CCTV footage shows the i20 stopping at a toll gate, where Umar manually paid the toll and looked directly at the cameras multiple times before moving forward. Meanwhile, police on Thursday detained 5–6 individuals, including Umar’s relative Faheem, who had allegedly parked the red EcoSport at Khandwali, Faridabad.
