Body in sack: How illicit affairs within family led to woman’s murder
SURAT: The murder of a woman whose body was stuffed in a sack and dumped in Kosad was allegedly carried out by the father of her daughter in-law, with the woman’s son part of the conspiracy.
Detection of crime branch sleuths said the crime stemmed from quarrels over the alleged illicit relationship between the victim’s younger son, Parvez, and his elder brother, Wasim’s wife, Shabana. Police were stunned when Parvez claimed the victim was in a relationship with his brother’s father-in-law — the man who travelled from Bihar to execute the murder.
The deceased was identified as 57-year-old Hamida Khatun. Police have arrested her son Parvez, Shabana, and her father Firoz Alam.
Hamida lived with Wasim and Parvez, and Shabana at Kosad Awas. Her husband had died a few years ago and she had been heading the family since.
DCP (crime) Bhavesh Rojiya told TOI: “Frequent fights broke out after Hamida came to know about the relationship between Parvez and Shabana. She often reprimanded them for their extravagant spending.
Shabana complained about Hamida’s behaviour to her father. On Monday, Firoz called Parvez and said he planned to kill Hamida for harassing his daughter. As Parvez was also angry about his mother’s rebukes, he agreed to the plan.” Police later learned that Hamida was also allegedly in a relationship with Firoz.
“On Tuesday morning, when her sons had left for work, Firoz and Hamida went inside a room. After some time, he strangled her with a cloth. Shabana informed Parvez, who returned home. The three then stuffed the body into a plastic sack,” an investigator said.
At around 12.30 pm, Firoz allegedly carried the sack on his shoulder and dumped it it 500 metres away. He then left to board a train to Bihar.
