Special attention has been given to make the station universally accessible, ensuring elderly passengers, people with disabilities, and families with children travel with ease. Wide corridors and ramps support effortless movement across levels. Braille signage and audio-visual guidance systems enhance inclusivity. Dedicated family zones and baby care facilities improve convenience. Information kiosks and digital boards ensure real-time navigation support. Clear signages make moving from concourse to platform intuitive and quick. Public announcement systems keep passengers updated about arrivals and departures. This inclusive approach aligns with modern transportation standards. The result is a station that welcomes everyone.

Seamless connectivity with the city

The Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) plan ensures that the station becomes a true mobility hub. It allows passengers to switch smoothly between metros, buses, taxis, autos, and other transport options. Designed in collaboration with SMC and SUDA, the plan focuses on reducing transition time. Strategic access points streamline traffic flow around the station. Pedestrian-friendly zones and drop-off bays enhance accessibility. Proximity to existing infrastructure like BRTS and metro reduces commute complexity. This integrated approach ensures high-speed rail connects effortlessly to the city fabric. Passengers save time and enjoy hassle-free last-mile connectivity. It redefines urban mobility for Surat’s commuters.

Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirms 2027 launch for first section

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Surat to Bilimora section will be the first part of India’s Bullet Train project to become operational by 2027. During his inspection of the station and track-laying works, Vaishnaw highlighted the introduction of cutting-edge technologies unique to the high-speed rail network. These innovations, he said, will later be applied to other major rail projects across the country. The minister also explained how special turnout designs ensure seamless train movement even at speeds of 320-340 km/hr. With two central tracks and two platforms catering to both Mumbai and Ahmedabad-bound trains, the Surat station is being engineered for maximum efficiency. Vaishnaw praised the project’s rapid progress, calling it a milestone in India’s infrastructure development. His announcement has raised expectations around the transformative impact of the bullet train corridor. The 2027 operational target marks a significant leap toward India’s high-speed rail future.

World-class infrastructure at every level

The three-level station is designed for operational efficiency and passenger convenience. The ground level houses parking bays, security checks, and access points. The concourse level features lounges, ticket counters, and kiosks for smooth transit. Platforms are equipped with advanced safety systems and boarding facilities. The total built-up area spans 58,352 sq. m, with a height of 26.3 m. Wide circulation areas ensure easy crowd movement during peak hours. Advanced surveillance and security protocols safeguard passengers. Digital displays and wayfinding tools improve navigation. This layered design optimizes space utilization and enhances functionality. It ensures seamless operations even during high footfall periods.

Driving surat’s economic transformation

The new bullet train station is expected to catalyze economic growth in Surat. Faster connectivity will attract businesses, investors, and tourists. Improved accessibility will benefit the diamond and textile industries. Real estate development around the station will create jobs and boost property values. Retail and hospitality sectors will see significant growth. Enhanced connectivity with Mumbai and Ahmedabad will strengthen trade networks. The project will also improve logistics efficiency and reduce travel time. Long-term benefits include increased competitiveness and global visibility for Surat. The city is poised to emerge as a major economic hub. This transformation will redefine its urban and industrial landscape.

Strategic location for maximum reach

Located in Antroli village near the Surat-Bardoli road, the station offers excellent connectivity to key urban nodes. It lies just 330 m from a BRTS stop and 280 m from a proposed metro station. Surat Railway Station and City Bus Stand are within 11 km and 10 km, respectively. Easy access to NH-48 and Chalthan Railway Station enhances regional linkages. This location choice reduces travel times and improves accessibility for passengers from across the city. The site’s strategic positioning will also attract businesses and logistics operations. Strong connectivity ensures high footfall and economic vibrancy. It positions Surat as a future-ready transport hub.

Bullet train project progress on track

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor is making rapid progress. Of the 508 km stretch, 323 km of viaduct and 399 km of pier work are complete. Seventeen river bridges and multiple PSC and steel bridges have been built. Over 4 lakh noise barriers have been installed across 210 km. Track bed construction for 210 km is complete, with more than 2100 OHE masts installed. Excavation of tunnels in Palghar is underway, with 5 km of NATM completed. Rolling stock depots in Surat and Ahmedabad are progressing well. Superstructure work across Gujarat stations is in advanced stages. Mumbai’s underground station construction has also begun.

10/10

Sustainability woven into design

The Surat station blends eco-friendly practices with modern infrastructure. IGBC-certified features like rainwater harvesting and low-flow fixtures minimize resource consumption. Eco-friendly paints reduce environmental impact, while landscaping enhances biodiversity. Wide openings and skylights reduce dependency on artificial lighting. Natural ventilation lowers energy costs and improves air quality. Solar integration is planned for energy efficiency. Waste management systems will ensure minimal environmental footprint. These green initiatives make the project a model for sustainable transport infrastructure. They align with India’s climate goals while improving passenger comfort. Sustainability is not an add-on — it’s built into the blueprint.
