SURAT: A massive fire broke out in the
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
’s (ONGC) gas pipeline passing from an agriculture farm land at Kadodara village
Vagra taluka
of Bharuch district near the
Dahej
industrial area on Friday night. Official sources confirmed there was no casualty reported and that the fire was brought under control with the prompt action from the ONGC authorities and the fire department.
Official sources said that the fire broke out due to the leakage or rupture in the
underground gas pipeline
of ONGC passing from an
agricultural farm
land in
Kadodara village
in Vagra taluka. The blast spot is located about one kilometre away from the United Phosphorus Limited (UPL)12 plant.
Sources said that the authorities from the ONGC Dahej immediately rushed to the spot along with the four fire tenders. The fire broke out at about 8:4 pm and that it was brought under control within 45 minutes. The gas supply in the pipeline was stopped with immediate effect.
Residents in about three villages in Vagra taluka including Paniyadra, Padariya and Narnavi villages heard the blasts and increase in the temperature due to the massive fire.
ND Vaghela, deputy director, Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), Bharuch told TOI, “Massive fire was reported in the underground gas pipeline of ONGC passing from a agricultural farm land in Kadodara village of Vagra taluka. The fire is brought under control and there is no casualty reported in the incident. The ONGC authorities are on the spot and that the gas supply has been stopped with immediate effect”
