Surat: A part of a two-storeyed building collapsed in Bhavani Wad near Bhavani Mandir here on Friday evening.
The incident occurred around 8.30pm. At least four persons of a family including Pujal M Dalal, Mahendra R Dalal and Arvind R Dalal got buried under the debris of the building.
Arvind Dalal reportedly expired by the time he was rescued by the fire brigade personnel.
The other two were rushed to a government hospital for treatment. The rescue work was on to bring out the fourth person who remained still buried under the debris, sources said.
The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) officials said the building was constructed 50 years ago.
However, the name of the owner of the building was still not known.
