After weeks of rain, no power or water in Kalyan, Uran villages

and Navi Mumbai continue to deal with the aftermath of the floods, there were three rain-related deaths in Kalyan in the last eight days and villages in

Uran

and Kalyan talukas have been living without electricity and water.


On July 30, the bloated body of Rakesh Solanki (33) of Kamba village was found in a nullah near Rayta bridge. A week later, on Tuesday, the body of Vilas Tembe (50), a farmer from Bapsai village, was found in a pond in Kamba village. resident Pintu Tiwari's body was found near Ulhas river. The Khadakpada police suspect Tiwari had drowned in the Gautam Nagar nullah on Friday.

With power and water supply cut off after the floods on July 26, around 2,000 people living near Ulhas river in Kamba village's Morya Nagari area have taken shelter in a school. And in Uran taluka, five tribal villages-Kondechiwadi, Bunglechiwadi, Sagachiwadi, Kherkatiwadi and Bhuechiwadi-had been living without power for the past five days due to damage to electric poles during the heavy downpour last weekend. After several complaints, MSEDCL finally sent its team to carry out the restoration work on Wednesday, but a landslide on the Panvel-Ransai Road the previous night blocked the approach route. "Once the road is clear, we will fix the problem and resume power supply," said an MSEDCL official.
