Life sentence till death for father-son duo and accomplice in brutal murder of RTI activist

THANE: In a significant verdict, a father-son duo and another individual were sentenced to life imprisonment till death for the brutal murder of RTI activist Sajid Ansari in Mumbra in 2016.


Abdul Majid Kazi, his son Mohammad Siddiqui Kazi, and Mohammad Usman Sheikh were convicted for attacking Ansari with a knife, stump, and physical blows near Darul Falah Masjid.

The motive behind the murder was the victim's complaint to the civic corporation about an allegedly illegal gate of a housing complex.

The court, after examining eight prosecution witnesses, delivered the verdict, imposing life sentences and fines of Rs 10,000 each on the accused.
